Privacy Policy

NextStep NB ("we") helps newcomers settle in New Brunswick. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can access it or have it deleted. It is based on the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Information we collect

  • Contact form and CRS analysis request: name, email, phone or WhatsApp, planned arrival date, requested service, message, and the calculator answers you choose to send us.
  • Client space: name, email, password (handled by Google Firebase; we never see it), phone, arrival date, city, notes, chosen package and file progress.
  • Documents you upload to your client space (for example passport, visa, study or work permit).
  • Audience measurement, only if you accept it in the consent banner: pages viewed and actions (WhatsApp click, form sent), through Google Analytics and Meta Pixel.

2. Why we use it

  • To answer you and arrange the services you ask for (airport pickup, housing, SIN, banking, Medicare, etc.).
  • To track your file and let you know when a step is completed.
  • With your consent, to measure site traffic and the effectiveness of our ads.

We do not sell your information. We only use your documents for the steps you ask us to handle.

3. Where your information is stored

We use service providers that may store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local laws:

  • Google Firebase (accounts and client files);
  • Google Drive or Firebase Storage (uploaded documents);
  • EmailJS (forwarding forms to our mailbox);
  • Vercel (website hosting);
  • Google Analytics and Meta (audience measurement, only after your consent).

4. Who has access

Only the NextStep NB team members handling your file. Your documents are only reachable from your client space and the protected admin area. We only pass a document to a third party (for example a landlord or a bank) with your consent.

5. Retention

We keep your file while we support you, then for at most 24 months after the service ends, unless the law requires otherwise. You can ask us to delete your account and documents at any time.

6. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, withdraw your consent to audience measurement (consent banner or clearing cookies), or ask a question about this policy. We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

7. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, access to files is limited per account, and documents can only be opened through temporary links. No system is perfect: only send us the documents your steps require.
